Johnny Depp has been spotted for the first time on the London set of Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, marking his return to major Hollywood studio productions after several years away from big-budget films.
To transform into Charles Dickens’ iconic character Ebenezer Scrooge, Depp underwent extensive makeup and prosthetic work. He was seen wearing a dramatic blue-and-black cloak layered over a nightshirt.

His long gray-black hair spilled out from beneath a nightcap as he filmed scenes alongside Andrea Riseborough, who portrays the Ghost of Christmas Past.
Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol will be Depp’s first major Hollywood studio project since Waiting for the Barbarians (2019) and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018). In recent years, many of his projects were smaller in scale and lacked major studio backing.

The Oscar-nominated actor largely stepped away from Hollywood following a highly publicized legal battle with his former wife, Amber Heard.
Their six-week trial concluded in June 2022, with a verdict finding Heard liable on all three counts of defamation related to a 2018 article. After subsequent appeals, the former couple reached a settlement.

Paramount Pictures is set to release Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol in theaters on November 13, 2026.
