Weddings are often described as one of the most important days of our lives. A day filled with love, celebration, and the people who matter most to us.
But sometimes, life doesn’t allow everyone we love to be there. Illness, age, and circumstances can quietly stand in the way and that absence can hurt just as much as anything else.
Tara Foley knew this feeling all too well. Her 102-year-old grandmother, Stasia, dreamed of attending her granddaughter’s wedding.
Unfortunately, because of her fragile health and heart disease, traveling to the ceremony was impossible. Still, her wish remained strong.
Instead of accepting the situation, Tara chose love over limitations. Without telling anyone not her friends, not even her family Tara packed her wedding dress and flew to see her grandmother. She wanted to bring the wedding to her.

Her grandmother was moved to tears. Stasia later said that day was one of the greatest moments of her long life.
And in her heart, Tara felt something she couldn’t yet fully understand that this would be their last meeting.
‘We both knew,’ Tara shared later. ‘She held my face in her hands, looked into my eyes, and said, ‘I love you very much.’
Just 27 days later, Tara’s grandmother passed away.
