Why Kelly Clarkson and Brett Eldredge’s Christmas Duet Feels So Special…

All we ever seem to ask for at Christmas is a little more music that feels like the holidays and somehow, Kelly Clarkson keeps delivering exactly that.

When she joined forces with Brett Eldredge for their festive duet, it wasn’t just a performance… it felt like a moment.

From the first note, something clicked. That familiar, chest-tightening warmth rushed in the kind only truly great Christmas songs create.

Their voices blended effortlessly, full of joy and sincerity, and the chemistry between them was impossible to ignore.

As they sang, smiles kept breaking through, the kind you can’t fake like they both knew they’d created something special together.

Watching them perform on The Voice felt less like a TV appearance and more like being invited into a cozy holiday scene.

The stage glowed, the harmonies wrapped around you, and suddenly it was Christmas, no matter what day it was. Kelly has said before, ‘You can feel it when something’s special,’ and every line of this song proves her right.

By the time the final note faded, one thing was obvious: this wasn’t just another seasonal release. It’s the kind of song you instinctively reach for every December the one that sneaks into your holiday rotation and never leaves.

When Kelly and Brett performed ‘Under the Mistletoe’ on the Dec. 8, 2020 episode of The Voice, it truly felt like a gift. And it came at a time when people needed it most.

Earlier that fall, Kelly shared that fans had been begging her for new music anything to lift spirits.

‘I have a couple Christmas songs dropping that are very random,’ she laughed. ‘Everyone’s sad. Everyone’s feeling it. The world’s kind of gone to crap so they’re like, ‘Can you just release something?’

Those songs, she explained, were little sparks of joy meant to hold fans over while she works on her next album written during a deeply personal chapter of her life.

‘That’s the cool thing about being an artist,’ she said. ‘You get to bring a little sunshine or distraction or hope especially when people need it most.’

And that’s exactly what this duet does. It reminds us why holiday music matters, and why we’ll happily welcome any amount of Christmas magic Kelly Clarkson wants to give us.
