What You Need to Know About the $600 Perfume That Went Viral on TikTok. Experts Say it Cannot Be Duplicated or faked…

Luxury fragrance house Guerlain has once again captured social media attention with its exclusive perfume, Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21. Despite its nearly $660 price tag, the fragrance continues to gain popularity and frequently sells out, according to WWD.

The perfume recently went viral on TikTok and Reddit, where fragrance enthusiasts described it as “almost impossible to duplicate.” Experts say Guerlain’s signature perfume DNA and proprietary production methods make exact copies extremely difficult to create.

Part of the brand’s exclusive niche collection, the fragrance is crafted using vanilla planifolia grown in Madagascar. The production process includes hand-processing the ingredients and a lengthy infusion technique that reportedly lasts exactly 21 days, inspiring the perfume’s name.

The scent is built around a rich vanilla base blended with warm woody, musky, and spicy notes. It also features Guerlain’s signature opoponax accord, adding depth and a soft amber-like finish to the composition.

With an estimated 30% fragrance concentration, the perfume is classified as an extrait de parfum, making it especially intense and long-lasting. Many perfume lovers say a single spray can remain noticeable on the skin for hours.

Guerlain also highlights the fragrance’s personalization options. Buyers can customize the bottle with engraving, decorative details, and luxury embellishments.

Interest in the perfume surged after a wave of viral TikTok videos called it “compliment-worthy” and “nearly unique.” Search trend data reportedly shows interest in the fragrance has increased by more than 1000% in recent years.

Despite its premium price, Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21 has already experienced multiple shortages and remains one of the most talked-about niche perfumes of the year.
