A brand-new luxury train inspired by the legendary Orient Express is preparing for its first international journey from Italy to Istanbul, and travelers are already calling it one of the most breathtaking rail experiences in Europe.
The new train, known as La Dolce Vita Orient Express, officially launched in Italy in spring 2025. This autumn, it will follow the historic route that made the original Orient Express famous more than 140 years ago.
A Legendary Route Returns
The original Orient Express began operating in 1883, connecting Paris with Istanbul, then known as Constantinople. Over the decades, the route became one of the world’s most iconic rail journeys, associated with elegance, romance, and old-world luxury.
Now, the new Italian version brings that glamorous experience back for modern travelers.
The five-day journey starts in Rome and continues through Venice, Budapest, the Carpathian Mountains, and finally Istanbul.
Inside The Ultra-Luxury Train
Passengers begin their experience at Rome’s Roma Ostiense station, where they are welcomed with live music, aperitifs, and gourmet snacks before boarding.
The train accommodates only 62 guests, creating a private and exclusive atmosphere similar to a five-star boutique hotel on rails.
Its interiors were designed by Milan-based Dimorestudio and feature:

Each meal is inspired by the regions the train passes through, using local ingredients from Italy, Hungary, Romania, and Turkey.
