Curious Stories for Curious Minds

Dad Wears a Ballet Leotard to Dance to Beyoncé’s ‘Single Ladies’ for His Daughters, and the Crowd Can’t Stop Laughing

There are some parents who are willing to do absolutely anything for their children. And for many of them, that includes putting themselves in an embarrassing or downright ridiculous situation if it means making their kids happy.

Steve Haddad is exactly that kind of father. When his daughters made a special request, he was more than willing to go along with it, even though it meant performing Beyoncé’s famous hit song “Single Ladies” in front of an audience while wearing a ballet leotard.

What makes the story even funnier is that Steve did not know about the unusual costume until just a few minutes before the performance was supposed to begin. His daughters had apparently decided that a regular outfit would not be nearly entertaining enough. Instead, they wanted their father to appear on stage dressed like a ballet dancer.

For Steve, however, embarrassing himself was a small price to pay for the happiness of his children. He and his wife, Tina, have always been incredibly devoted to their daughters, and Steve is known as the kind of father who will go to extraordinary lengths just to see his girls smile.

The request was not treated as a simple joke, either. Steve took the performance surprisingly seriously. Rather than simply walking onto the stage and improvising a few dance moves, he decided to prepare properly. He even signed up for lessons with a choreographer so that he could learn the routine and perform it as well as possible.

For several weeks, Steve practiced alongside his daughters. Together, they worked on the choreography, rehearsed the movements and prepared for the big performance. His daughters clearly wanted their father to give the audience a show they would never forget, and Steve was determined not to disappoint them.

Tina later shared some amusing details about the whole experience. She admitted that she was somewhat shocked when she finally saw her husband in his complete performance outfit on the day of the show.

There was one important reason for her surprise: Steve had never worn the ballet leotard during their rehearsals.

Because of that, when the final performance began and Steve appeared in the costume, Tina needed a moment to understand what she was actually seeing. She had watched him practice for weeks, but seeing him suddenly transformed into a fully dressed ballet performer was something entirely different.

Still, Steve did not let the laughter or the unusual costume distract him. He took the stage and performed the routine with remarkable confidence.

And judging by the reaction of everyone watching, all those weeks of practice had paid off.

Steve’s performance to “Single Ladies” turned out to be a huge success. His dancing was surprisingly polished, his movements were well rehearsed, and he managed to perform the routine almost flawlessly.

But the audience simply could not keep a straight face.

Watching a grown father confidently dance around in a ballet leotard while performing one of Beyoncé’s most recognizable songs was simply too much for everyone gathered there. Laughter quickly filled the room, and the entire performance became a moment that Steve’s family was unlikely to forget.

Yet beneath all the humor was something genuinely touching. Steve was not performing because he wanted attention or because he particularly enjoyed wearing a ballet costume in public. He was doing it because his daughters asked him to.

For his children, their father was willing to step far outside his comfort zone, learn a dance routine, work with a choreographer, rehearse for weeks and ultimately stand in front of a crowd wearing an outfit he had only discovered minutes before the performance.

That is what made the moment so memorable. The ballet leotard may have been hilarious, and the dance may have caused everyone to burst out laughing, but the real story was about a father who was willing to look completely silly if it meant giving his daughters a reason to smile.

Sometimes the most unforgettable memories are created when parents stop worrying about how they look and simply join their children in having fun. Steve Haddad certainly proved that point.

His daughters got the performance they had dreamed of, the audience got an unforgettable comedy show, and Steve earned something even more valuable: another wonderful memory with his girls.
