A Minneapolis meteorologist has gone viral after sharing surreal photos and videos of a plate of spaghetti completely frozen on a fork, looking like a scene from a science-fiction movie.
Jennifer McDermed captured the images on her backyard wooden deck, where the extreme cold literally froze everything in place.

‘This morning, the temperature in Minneapolis dropped to -29.4°C, but it felt like -42°C. Of course, I had to try the spaghetti experiment,’ McDermed wrote Friday in a post on X.
The video has already racked up nearly 8 million views, leaving social media users both stunned and amused. A similar ‘spaghetti test’ was also performed by Michigan resident Rachel Whipple, according to News Channel 3. Reports say the spaghetti froze solid on the fork in just 20 minutes.

The deep freeze has now spread across much of the United States. Winter Storm Fern has already dumped more than a foot of snow on New York City. Meteorologists estimate that over 140 million people could be affected, with at least 22 states declaring states of emergency.

New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani warned that the city is expected to experience its coldest temperatures in the past eight years next week.
