Michael Douglas to Release Memoir: ‘It’s Time to Tell My Story’Oscar-winning screen legend Michael Douglas has announced he is preparing to share his life story in a deeply personal memoir, declaring that the moment has finally come to speak in his own voice.

Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas has announced that he is releasing a candid memoir set to hit shelves on October 6, 2026. The yet-untitled book will be published by Grand Central Publishing

At 81, Douglas promises an “honest and expansive” account of his life, stripped of gloss and Hollywood varnish.

“For years, people have asked me to write a book, and I’ve finally decided it’s time to tell my story on my own terms. Not a headline version or a greatest-hits collection, but the real story,” he said.

The memoir will explore not only his triumphs, but also the darker chapters of his life: his battle with alcohol addiction, his fight against stage IV cancer, and the relentless pressure that comes with global fame.

“I’ve lived my life in the public eye while remaining a deeply private person. Those are two very different things. Fame blurs the truth, and I want to bring it back into focus,” Douglas noted.

His marriage to actress Catherine-Zeta-Jones, whom he wed in 2000, will hold a special place in the memoir. Despite their 20-plus-year age gap and years of public skepticism, their union has lasted a quarter of a century and is widely considered one of Hollywood’s most enduring love stories.

According to the publisher, readers can expect an unfiltered journey from the son of a legend to a global icon in his own right. If the announcement is any indication, Hollywood is about to hear stories that have long remained behind the curtain.
