Hollywood has seen countless on-screen romances, but few moments linger quite like the chemistry between Sharon Stone and Robert De Niro in the культ classic Casino.
In a candid interview with E! News, Stone didn’t hold back when talking about one unforgettable scene. She even called De Niro “the best kisser in the business.”
“He kissed me so well that I literally lost myself,” she shared during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy.
The now 68-year-old actress recalled a particularly intense moment from the 1995 crime drama, where she played Ginger McKenna. In the scene, her character manipulates De Niro’s character into giving her money.
“We were filming a scene where I had to go to the bathroom, and since I was playing a con artist, I convinced him to give me money,” Stone explained. “He hands me $50, and I look at him like, ‘Seriously? I think I need a bit more than that.’”
De Niro’s character then reaches into his pocket again and gives her more cash. What happened next turned into one of the film’s most talked-about moments.
“I leaned in and kissed him,” she said. “And he just stunned me.”
According to Stone, the kiss was so powerful it even left legendary director Martin Scorsese slightly flustered.
“Martin said, ‘Stop,’ looked at us, and said, ‘I think that worked… but do you want to do another take?’” she recalled. “And we both looked at him and said, ‘Yeah, maybe we should do one more.’”
Stone has often spoken warmly about working with De Niro, even saying in 2024 that filming Casino together changed her life.
